Mesut Akdere is an Associate Professor in the Department of Technology Leadership & Innovation at Purdue University and the founding faculty member of Purdue’s Human Resource Development program (https://polytechnic.purdue.edu/degrees/human-resource-development). He is also the founding director of the HRD Virtual Lab and HRD Analytics Lab at Purdue Polytechnic Institute. Dr. Akdere’s research focuses on workforce development in STEM fields, leadership development through immersive learning technologies including augmented reality and virtual reality, quality management, and performance improvement through training and organization development. Dr. Akdere published in business, management, human resources, technology, training, organization development, and education journals. He teaches courses in human resource development, leadership, training, organization development, cross-cultural management, and strategic planning. He serves on the editorial boards of several international journals including Human Resource Development Quarterly and Total Quality Management & Business Excellence. Dr. Akdere is the founding director of Purdue Polytechnic Leadership Academy which facilitated leadership competency development in STEM fields. He is also the inaugural faculty research fellow at the Center for Intercultural Learning, Mentorship, Assessment, and Research.
